Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) bonuses (including Uber)

The Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program (SPG) recently announced two potentially lucrative bonuses. SPG is one of the largest loyalty programs, covering (among others): Four Points, Sheraton, Westin, aloft, W, and St. Regis brands. SPG points transfer 1:1 to most airlines, including American, Emirates, Singapore, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.

The first promo is an innovative partnership with Uber, the popular private-car-on-demand service.

SPG members who have a stay posted to SPG in 2015 can earn 1 SPG point per dollar spent on Uber, capped at $10,000 annually. The sign-up link is here.

And if you use Uber during your stay at an SPG property, you'll earn bonus SPG points according to this schedule:

But that's not all! As an additional promotion, Uber riders in Dubai, London, Mexico City, New York, or San Francisco can earn 15,000 SPG points this Saturday, February 28 between 2pm and 7pm local time if they can catch special SPG-branded Ubers on their Uber app. The promotion is called Suite Ride and is open to all Uber/SPG users who have linked their accounts. (It looks like you don't need qualifying stay to get the Suite Ride).

SPG Double Play
This one's a bit simpler. This graphic from SPG says it all:

You have to register by March 31, 2015, and the double-points promotion lasts through April 15, 2015 and is retroactive back to January 5, 2015.

Conclusion
These promos seem lucrative enough for me to leave Hyatt temporarily to experiment with SPG. I'll try to find a way to combine the Double Play and Uber promotions some time in April.
